Spice Up Your Kitchen: 5 Cool Kitchen Gadgets

Keep your kitchen looking cool with these hi-tech accessories

With all the fast food options available in Hong Kong, it's safe to say that not many of us actually spend much time in our kitchens. But, these five cool kitchen gadgets recommended by interior designer Clifton Leung just might make you change your mind.

1. Philips Airfryer

The Philips Airfryer is a great way to enjoy our favourite (fried) foods without all the calories or the mess. Using hot air to fry the foods instead of oil, it can make all sorts of snacks including fries, spring rolls, chicken nuggets and fish fingers. The best part is, there's no greasy odour with this frying machine since it's got an integrated air filter.

This machine also ranks high in the looks department, and I fell in love with its sleek, black design at first sight. Not only is it simple to use, its no-fuss design features soft curves and silver knobs that will add a touch of chic to any kitchen.

The Philips Airfryer (HK$1,790) is available at major electronics retailers in Hong Kong. For more information, visit their website.

2. In-flight trolley

Think in-flight trolleys are just for planes? Think again! This ultra-lightweight (10.5 kilograms) in-flight trolley is a movable meal cart that also doubles as a storage unit for drinks, kitchen utensils or anything else you want to put in it.

I love the fact that I can roll it around my home, out of the kitchen and into the dining room for serving up CDs, makeup, plates and/or cutlery. It's perfect for entertaining guests too, as the upper compartment can store dry ice for chilled beverages and keep them cold for up to six to eight hours.

The best part is, the in-flight trolley can also be turned into a stylish glass top dining table -- now how's that for a party trick? Get this inflight trolley for HK$18,720 at The Galley.

3. Le Creuset cast iron flower shaped casserole

Anything from Le Creuset is sure to spice up a kitchen, and I particularly love this cast iron casserole in a flower shape. Not only is it perfect for taking straight from the kitchen to the table, it's also a timeless piece that you can pass down from generation to generation.

Le Creuset comes in an assortment of other colours but I personally think the food presentation looks much more unique when contrasted with the lilac colour. No matter what colour you choose, this Le Creuset piece will definitely catch the eyes of your guests.

The special edition Le Creuset cast iron casserole is priced at HK$1,980 and available from Cathay Pacific's "Beyond Duty Free" home delivery service.
